Description

A bike fit, like sessions with a physiotherapist, chiropractor, or other healthcare professionals, is essential in ensuring that your body is properly aligned and functioning without pain during activity. However, as with these health services, achieving complete comfort or pain relief often requires more than one session.

When you visit a physiotherapist or chiropractor, they assess your body, diagnose issues, and make the necessary adjustments or prescribe treatments. Despite their expertise, it’s common to require follow-up sessions. This is because the body takes time to adapt to these changes. Sometimes, the initial adjustments don’t fully resolve the problem, or new issues emerge as your body adjusts to the new posture or movement patterns. Over time, as your body responds and adapts, additional tweaks or treatments are often needed to fine-tune the results, ensuring that you reach a pain-free or optimal state.

The same principle applies to a bike fit. The first session is about finding the best possible setup for your body on the bike, adjusting saddle height, handlebar position, cleat placement, and more. However, as you begin to ride with this new setup, your body might react in unexpected ways. Certain muscles may still be tight, or old habits might interfere with the new position, causing discomfort or pain. This is why follow-up sessions are sometimes necessary. These sessions allow the fitter to make further adjustments based on your feedback and how your body has responded to the initial fit. Just like with physiotherapy or chiropractic care, the goal is to gradually refine the setup until your body fully adapts and you achieve a pain-free, comfortable riding position.

In all these cases—whether adjusting your body through physiotherapy, chiropractic care, or optimizing your bike fit—the process is progressive, requiring patience, feedback, and sometimes multiple sessions to achieve the best outcome.
